About Me
For as long as I can remember I have had a profound interest in relationships, specifically what healthy relationships look like. As a doctoral student, I studied marital satisfaction in couples. Although my research was focused on couples who had been married more than once, I was able to gather an abundance of information on first time married couples also. What I discovered was that there was never one clear answer to what made relationships successful, but rather there were a multitude of characteristics that not only contribute to couples overall happiness, but happiness that carried them through decades. Since completion of my doctorate I have been able to successfully help my clients address the issues that have been causing them suffering and pain in not only their marriages, but in all areas that deal with relationships.
My Story
I earned my master's degree from the University of Holy Cross where I specialized in marriage, couples, and family counseling. As a mother of two young adult children, and a wife, I went into counseling with the belief that family is the root and foundation of everything. After completion of my master's degree I was encouraged by my family to pursue my doctorate, as they knew this was a life-long dream of mine. After completing a doctorate degree I set out to open my own practice, create a space where true, long-lasting healing could occur for people in the community. I often tell my clients that, although I do have a long history of education, training, and researching, many of my personal real-life experiences have given me many skills to help my clients achieve their goals.
My style of counseling involves client participation. I am direct and honest with my clients. I will offer tools, techniques, and sometimes homework which will facilitate healing and transformation. My clients are typically high functioning, willing to do the work to reach their goals, love the life they are living, and eventually no longer need therapy.
As a life-long learner, researcher, and avid fan of people living their best lives, I will always be looking for new ways to help my clients. Sometimes that comes in the form of trainings, obtaining new certifications, or doing research for topics that are unique to specific clients. I adore watching my clients heal and improve their lives through the counseling process. I am so happy that you're here today, and on behalf of For the love of You Counseling, welcome!
